Jewellry

The unusual combination included an amazing self-choreographed piece of Bharatnatyam ‘Hanuman’ by Vaibhav Arekar, who has a post graduate in dance with a specialisation in Bharatnatyam, Kathak and theatre. Starting with a Stuti, he commenced with certain important episodes of Hanuman’s tale from the Ramayan. Next the evening witnessed the colourful Maharashtra Lavani, presented by Anshumala Patil and her Mumbai-based group. The Lavani performers were dressed in authentic Maharashtrian nine yard saris, accessories and jewellry. They presented two important types of Lavani one was baithaki chi lavani and the generic Lavani. Going by the looks of the event, the audience seemed to have enjoyed their rendezvous with cultural forms thoroughly!
