Apple is expected to unveil new notebook computers, possibly including a laptop costing as little as £475.
The technology giant has refused to release details of its latest announcement, but rumours in Silicon Valley suggest it may release a "budget laptop", in an attempt to attract cost-conscious consumers. Alternatively it could cut the price of the cheapest laptop in its existing MacBook range, which is currently available for £650.
Letters inviting technology reporters and analysts to the event at the firm's headquarters in Cupertino, California, contain the enticing message "The spotlight turns to notebooks".
